El nacimiento de este cine tuvo lugar con el estreno internacional de la hora de los hornos (solanas y getino, 1968) en la iv muestra internacional del nuevo cine de pesaro (italia), en junio de 1968, el simult\u00e1neo surgimiento del grupo cine liberaci\u00f3n y el comienzo de la exhibici\u00f3n clandestina de ese film. Entre ese a\u00f1o y 1972 podr\u00eda considerarse una primera etapa en la que todos los grupos intervienen en oposici\u00f3n al r\u00e9gimen militar existente, instaurado en 1966.
