Uno de esos campos es el de la f\u00edsica coloidal, encargada del estudio de part\u00edculas que est\u00e1n a medio camino entre el mundo microsc\u00f3pico y el macrosc\u00f3pico, con tama\u00f1os comprendidos entre unos pocos nan\u00f3metros y varias micras. Las dispersiones de estas part\u00edculas en un medio reciben el nombre de coloides. En el caso en el que el medio de dispersi\u00f3n es un l\u00edquido (normalmente agua) se habla de dispersi\u00f3n o disoluci\u00f3n coloidal. Pinturas, lacas, aerosoles, dispersiones alimentarias (mayonesas, mantequillas, helados, leche, etc.), Tintas, fluidos biol\u00f3gicos como la sangre, productos farmac\u00e9uticos y cosm\u00e9ticos son s\u00f3lo algunos ejemplos de dispersi\u00f3n coloidales.  el estudio de las interacciones entre part\u00edculas coloidales y el an\u00e1lisis de la dependencia de esas interacciones con las caracter\u00edsticas de las part\u00edculas (tama\u00f1o, naturaleza, densidad superficial de carga) y las condiciones del medio (temperatura, ph, presencia de sal y\/u otras part\u00edculas, aplicaci\u00f3n de un campo externo -gravitatorio, el\u00e9ctrico o magn\u00e9tico, etc.) Son algunos de los objetivos principales de f\u00edsica coloidal. Dichas interacciones pueden ser repulsivas, manteniendo a las part\u00edculas coloidales como entidades individuales en la disoluci\u00f3n (se dice entonces que la  dispersi\u00f3n coloidas es estable), o bien pueden ser atractivas, favoreciendo la agregaci\u00f3n de dichas part\u00edculas (habl\u00e1ndose entonces de inestabilidad de la dispersi\u00f3n coloidal). El estudio de los fen\u00f3menos de agregaci\u00f3n o de estabilizaci\u00f3n coloidal no s\u00f3lo es importante para aumentar y mejorar nuestro bagaje intelectual (desde el punto de vista de la
