La adhesi\u00f3n es una estrategia de supervivencia y crecimiento de las bacterias. La colonizaci\u00f3n de una superficie est\u00e1 com\u00fanmente estructurada en capas de agregados bacterianos rodeados de un material formado por exopolisac\u00e1ridos (\u00abslime\u00bb) que hace resistentes a las bacterias frente a las defensas naturales y antibi\u00f3ticos.  en este sentido, se ha estudiado el efecto de la nac sobre la producci\u00f3n de slime del staphylococcus epidermidis y secundariamente su influencia sobre la adherencia bacteriana y el riesgo de infecci\u00f3n. Para ello se dise\u00f1\u00f3 un estudio in vitro y otro in vivo.  en estudios previos, para comprobar la eficacia de diversas sustancias, se recubr\u00eda el biomaterial con ellas, pero conociendo la poca afinidad de la nac por los metales, se comprob\u00f3 previamente si se un\u00eda o impregnaba al biomaterial en cantidad suficiente para ser efectiva. Tras observar que la concentraci\u00f3n obtenida no era suficiente, se opt\u00f3 por a\u00f1adirla al medio de cultivo, como hab\u00edan hecho previamente otros autores.  en el estudio in vitro se valor\u00f3 el efecto que la nac tiene sobre la adherencia bacteriana a dos biomateriales, el acero inoxidable y el titanio, comprobando que esta sustancia es capaz de disminuir la adherencia del staphylococcus epidermidis al titanio.  en el estudio in vivo, tras validar el modelo experimental, se comprob\u00f3 que la nac no disminuye el riesgo de infecci\u00f3n, pero mantiene su capacidad de
