La tesis consta de dos vol\u00famenes.  en el primero de \u00e9stos se analiza la integraci\u00f3n de juan cris\u00f3stomo de arriaga en el primer romanticismo franc\u00e9s y c\u00f3mo las ideas liberales y avanzadas le influyen hasta transformalo en un m\u00fasico centroeuropeo enmarcado sincr\u00f3nica y diacr\u00f3nicamente en la tradici\u00f3n musical m\u00e1s antigua de la m\u00fasica que denominamos cl\u00e1sica.  formado en la tradici\u00f3n musical religiosa espa\u00f1ola, se integra plenamente en la m\u00fasica dram\u00e1tica parisina de principios del siglo xix, asumiendo y aportando nuevas ideas y realizaciones tan alejadas est\u00e9ticamente de los principios que le fueron inculcados por sus primeros maestros.  decisi\u00f3n libre o influencia de las circunstancias de su vida, es la antigua discusi\u00f3n sobre el concepto historicista o social de la producci\u00f3n art\u00edstica, pero no cabe duda la relaci\u00f3n, y en esta tesis queda demostrado, entre la situaci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica y social del bilbao de la \u00e9poca con la reacci\u00f3n familiar y musical de juan cris\u00f3stomo en el par\u00eds de los inicios del siglo xix.  tomando como idea central la producci\u00f3n dram\u00e1tico-oper\u00edstica juan cris\u00f3stomo relabora su obra m\u00e1s significativa los esclavos felices con un nuevo concepto de espect\u00e1culo-dram\u00e1tico que influye directamente en lo que \u00e9l consideraba producci\u00f3n menor escolar y que en esta investigaci\u00f3n se considera obra mayor y genial (se refiere a los tres cuartetos) alcanzando las m\u00e1s altas cotas de la m\u00fasica de c\u00e1mara europea de su tiempo.  asimismo y con la idea central del dramatismo como motor del idioma rom\u00e1ntico de juan cris\u00f3stomo se analizan
