La s\u00edntesis electroqu\u00edmica se presenta como una posible v\u00eda de aprovechamiento del co2. As\u00ed pues, en esta tesis doctoral se ha presentado un estudio de las diferentes opciones existentes para el empleo de co2 como materia prima de procesos de electros\u00edntesis:1. La reducci\u00f3n electroqu\u00edmica de co2 empleando electrodos de difusi\u00f3n de gas permite la obtenci\u00f3n de gas de s\u00edntesis, en proporciones h2\/co controladas por medio del potencial aplicado al electrodo, y es un ejemplo de un m\u00e9todo de obtenci\u00f3n de combustibles.2. Las carboxilaciones electroqu\u00edmicas son alternativas sint\u00e9ticas \u00fatiles para la obtenci\u00f3n de compuestos org\u00e1nicos que contengan grupos carbox\u00edlicos. En concreto se han estudiado 3 casos distintos:_ la carboxilaci\u00f3n a partir de sustratos halogenados en la que se aprovechan las propiedades electrocatal\u00edticas de los electrodos de plata._ la carboxilaci\u00f3n a partir de iminas c\u00edclicas en la que los productos carboxilados obtenidos no son estables._ la carboxilaci\u00f3n de acetonitrilo para la obtenci\u00f3n de \u00e1cido cianoac\u00e9tico por medio de una reacci\u00f3n pareada. Tambi\u00e9n se presentan los aspectos m\u00e1s  relevantes de este nuevo mecanismo de carboxilaci\u00f3n no descrito hasta el momento.3. La reducci\u00f3n electroqu\u00edmica de \u00e1cidos carbox\u00edlicos derivados de isoquinolina y quinolina, cuando se lleva a cabo en presencia de co2, da lugar a un proceso de descarboxilaci\u00f3n reductiva no descrito hasta la fecha. Por otro lado, en ausencia de co2, da lugar a una nueva ruta de hidroxilaci\u00f3n electroqu\u00edmica que permite obtener importantes compuestos intermedios en s\u00edntesis farmac\u00e9utica.
