Piquer P\u00edriz <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Este trabajo de tesis doctoral tiene como objetivo el an\u00e1lisis de la comprensi\u00f3n de algunas extensiones sem\u00e1nticas de los lexemas, hand, mouth y head, por parte de alumnos del ingl\u00e9s como lengua extranjera en las etapas de infantil y primaria. Partiendo de la premisa de que la met\u00e1fora y la metonimia desempe\u00f1an un papel fundamental en el fen\u00f3meno de extensi\u00f3n sem\u00e1ntica y en la adquisici\u00f3n y comprensi\u00f3n de formas polis\u00e9micas en la lengua materna, se analiza si estos mecanismos mentales tambi\u00e9n contribuyen al proceso de comprensi\u00f3n en el aprendizaje del ingl\u00e9s como lengua extranjera. El trabajo consta de dos partes. En la primera de ellas se recogen diversas consideraciones te\u00f3ricas sobre el fen\u00f3meno de la extensi\u00f3n sem\u00e1ntica, la expansi\u00f3n del ingl\u00e9s a edades tempranas, la presencia del lenguaje figurado en el aula de ingles y los estudios sobre la adquisici\u00f3n de la lengua materna.
