Jose <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Se ha aislado el gen carb de phycomyces blakesleeanus que codifica la enzima fitoeno deshidrogenasa en este organismo, implicada en la sintesis de carotenos. El gen se ha detectado por hibridacion homologa, utilizando como sondas dos fragmentos amplificados mediante pcr a partir de adn genomico del hongo. La region estructural comprende 1935 pb y esta constituida por dos exones separados por un intron de 183 pb, cuyo procesamiento restaura una fase de lectura de 1752 pb que codifica una proteina de 583 aminoacidos. La acumulacion de transcrito de este gen esta activada por la luz azul en la estirpe silvestre de phycomyces. Frente a este estimulo se produce una respuesta bifasica dependiendo de la exposicion.  la vitamina a, potente activador de la carotenogenesis, provoca un incremento entre 2 y 3 veces de los niveles de mensajero de este gen.
