La determinaci\u00f3n del antibi\u00f3tico en plasma se realiz\u00f3 siguiendo la t\u00e9cnica del bioensayo descrita por girard y cols. (1987).  el ajuste a modelos farmacocin\u00e9ticos compartimentales se realiz\u00f3 mediante el programa multifit de proost (1997). El criterio utilizado para determinar cual era la ecuaci\u00f3n que mejor describ\u00eda los datos experimentales en cada caso, fue el criterio de informaci\u00f3n de akaike (aic).  en ambas especies la azitromicina se distribuye seg\u00fan un modelo tricompartimental abierto cuando se administra por v\u00eda intravenosa, y seg\u00fan un modelo bicompartimental abierto con absorci\u00f3n de primer orden cuando se administra por v\u00eda intramuscular.  en los par\u00e1metros farmacocin\u00e9ticos obtenidos, existen diferencias significativas (p&lt; 0.05) en la vida media entre ambas especies; la semivida del antibi\u00f3tico en la oveja es 1.47 veces superior a la de la cabra, lo que se refleja en un aclaramiento 1.6 veces superior en la cabra. El tiempo de residencia medio (mrt) y el \u00e1rea bajo la curva de concentraci\u00f3n plasm\u00e1tica-tiempo (auc) son significativamente superiores en oveja que en cabra. Los valores de los volumenes de distribuci\u00f3n en estado estacionario y el calculado en funci\u00f3n del auc son ligeramente superiores en cabra pero sin ser significativamente diferentes (p&gt; 0.05) a los de la oveja. Esto es indicativo de una distribuci\u00f3n global similar del antibi\u00f3tico en ambas especies.  tras la administraci\u00f3n intramuscular de azitromicina en ambas especies la absorci\u00f3n es r\u00e1pida y monof\u00e1sica. Sin embargo existen diferencias significativas (p&lt;0.05) en varios par\u00e1metros farmacocin\u00e9ticos como la vida media, constante de absorci\u00f3n, concentraci\u00f3n m\u00e1xima,
