Mientras que, en general, no se pone en duda la posibilidad de someter el estudio de los fen\u00f3menos de la naturaleza a un escrutinio racional, la posibilidad de establecer alg\u00fan tipo de conocimiento en relaci\u00f3n a las cuestiones pr\u00e1cticas (moral, derecho, pol\u00edtica) es todav\u00eda hoy un tema de permanente debate filos\u00f3fico. \u00c2\u00bfhay alguna forma de determinar la verdad o la calidez de los juicios morales? el positivismo someti\u00f3 esta cuesti\u00f3n a una cr\u00edtica radical. Todav\u00eda hoy encontramos una gran variedad de posiciones en relaci\u00f3n a esta cuesti\u00f3n, que afecta tanto a problemas ontol\u00f3gicos (\u00c2\u00bfexiste alg\u00fan dominio objetivo sobre el que investigar?), Como epistemol\u00f3gicos (\u00c2\u00bfes posible conecer algo en este dominio?).  el fil\u00f3sofo y soci\u00f3logo alem\u00e1n j\u00ed\u00bcrgen habermas -cr\u00edtico permanente de la divisi\u00f3n positivista entre teor\u00eda y pr\u00e1ctica- ha formulado una propuesta desde la que enfrentar estas cuestiones que tiene la peculiaridad de responder afirmativamente a la segunda de aquellas preguntas sin necesidad de afirmar la primera; pretende defender una posici\u00f3n cognitivista respecto a las cuestiones pr\u00e1cticas, pero sin necesidad de comprometerse con el realismo moral. Esta propuesta encuentra su fundamento filos\u00f3fico en una particular teor\u00eda de la racionalidad (la racionalidad comunicativa) construida sobre una concepci\u00f3n del lenguaje (la pragm\u00e1tica formal) que, a su vez, se apoya en una reinterpretaci\u00f3n propia de la teor\u00eda de los actos de habla (austin, searle), del concepto de regla de wittgenstein, el interaccionismo simb\u00f3lico de g.H. Mead y en la tradici\u00f3n hermen\u00e9utica alemana (de humboldt a gadamer).  la tesis doctoral se centra en el estudio y an\u00e1lisis cr\u00edtico de este n\u00facleo normativo sobre el que se apoya la propuesta filos\u00f3fica de habermas.
