Partiendo de estos factores, el autor se detiene en los procesos y relaciones educativas y culturales que, al socaire de la corriente aperturista estatal, tuvieron su proyeccion en el marco insular, en el cual se destacan los logros experimentados en la ense\u00f1anza primaria, secundaria y profesional, al mismo tiempo que estudia las teorias y las practicas de algunos pedagogos que adquirieron fama internacional. A partir de 1936, la censura, depuracion y represion, se convirtieron en la tonica dominante ante la imposibilidad geografica del exilio, truncando las expectativas mas progresistas del quinquenio anterior.
