Sin embargo, la activaci\u00f3n aberrante de los stat da lugar a varias sitauciones patol\u00f3gicas, inlcuida la oncog\u00e9nesis. La implicaci\u00f3n de la v\u00eda jak\/stat en oncog\u00e9nesis ha sido ampliamente estudiada. Los stat est\u00e1n constituivamente activadas en diversos c\u00e1nceres humanos incluyendo varias leucemias.  la leucemia linfoc\u00edtica cr\u00f3nica de c\u00e9lulas b (llc-b), la leucemia m\u00e1s com\u00fan en el mundo occidental, se caracteriza por la acumulaci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas b maduras cd5+ detenidas en la fase de g0\/g1 del ciclo celular. Existen fuertes evidencias de que la llc-b est\u00e1 relacionada con defectos en la apoptosis. tanto defectos en la apoptosis. Tanto defectos gen\u00e9ticos como est\u00edmulos externos influyen en el anormal comportamiento de estas c\u00e9lulas.  fludarabina (f-ara-a) es un an\u00e1logo de adenosina resistente a la adenosina deaminasa ampliamente utilizado en el tratamiento de la llc-b. Aunque la principal acci\u00f3n de f-ara-a es la inhibici\u00f3n de la s\u00edntesis de adn, se ha demostrado su acci\u00f3n terap\u00e9utica en llc-b y otros cuadros linfoproliferativos indolentes con \u00edndice muy bajo de proliferaci\u00f3n. Se han descrito otros mecanismos de acci\u00f3n para f-ara-a, pero los mecanismos exactos por los que fludarabina mata las c\u00e9lulas  de llc-b no est\u00e1n aclarados.  la inhibici\u00f3n espec\u00edfica de la se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n por stat1 ha sido implicada en el efecto de fludarabina en la llc-b. Se ha descrito que fludarabina inhib\u00eda espec\u00edficamente stat1 suprimiendo la capacidad de las c\u00e9lulas de responder a  los interferones. Por tanto, aunque no se ha observado la fosforilaci\u00f3n en tirosinas de stat1 en c\u00e9lulas sin estimular de pacientes con llc-b, stat1 podr\u00eda ser un importante factor en la transmisi\u00f3n de se\u00f1ales antiapopt\u00f3ticas en la llc-b.
