Durante los ensayos de prospecci\u00f3n realizados en arrozales de espa\u00f1a (sevilla, Valencia y sadajoz) y americanos (valle de california) aparecieron los primeros biotipos de echinochloa que escapaban al control en campo. Los ensayos de dosis-respuesta confirmaron este punto,  obteniendo factores de resistencia (f.R.) Cercanos a 27. Los estudios de los mecanismos respqnsables de la resistencia (microscop\u00eda electr\u00f3nica) mostraron una absorci\u00f3n diferencial debido a la diferente distribuci\u00f3n y densidad de las ceras epicuticulares. No se obtuvieron diferencias con respecto a la translocaci\u00f3n de cs permaneciendo pr\u00e1cticamente el 95% en la hoja tratada. Ensayos in vitro de la accasa descartaron la mutaci\u00f3n como mecanismo de resistencia obteniendo valores 150en todos los biotipos cercanos a 2 j.Lm.  ensayos de metabolismo in vivo nos aportaron las bases de los mecanismos de resistencia. Con respecto al arroz (o. Sativa l.) Se produjo una inactivaci\u00f3n de la funci\u00f3n esterasa reduciendo bruscamente la formaci\u00f3n de cihalofop \u00e1cido, el cual era el verdadero herbicida. Adem\u00e1s, se increment\u00f3 el metabolismo formando metabolitos no t\u00f3xicos mediante reacciones de oxidaci\u00f3n. En el caso de  echinochloa se observaron diferencias entre el metabolismo de cs entre biotipos s y r formando \u00e9ste \u00faltimo mucha mayor cantidad de metabolitos no t\u00f3xicos (di\u00e1cido, amida y conjugados). Ensayos de metabolismo in vitro mediante aislamiento del sistema monooxigenasa citocromo p450 sugirieron la no implicaci\u00f3n de este sistema enzim\u00e1tico en el metabolismo de cs, al no ser inhibido por proadifen, ketoconazol o kcn, inhibidores espec\u00edficos de prote\u00ednas con grupo hemo.
