El tallo ribos\u00f3mico es mas complejo que el procari\u00f3tico y adem\u00e1s parece que participa en actividades reguladoras de la traducci\u00f3n que no se han encontrado en sistemas mas primitivos. Debido a su gran flexibilidad el tallo ribos\u00f3mico es muy m\u00f3vil lo que ha impedido la resoluci\u00f3n de su estructura en los modelos del ribosomas derivados de difracci\u00f3n de rayos x. Debido a esta circunstancia se han de utilizar t\u00e9cnicas alternativas que proporcionen informaci\u00f3n sobre su estructura y funci\u00f3n a nivel molecular.  Una informaci\u00f3n relevante en este sentido es determinar que otros componentes del ribosoma o de la maquinaria de traducci\u00f3n est\u00e1n pr\u00f3ximos a cada uno de los componentes del tallo.  en esta tesis se ha llevado un estudio mediante reactivos que forman puentes covalentes entre prote\u00ednas, \u00abcross-linkers\u00bb, para estudiar el entorno estructural de cada un de los componentes del tallo en el ribosoma de la levadura saccharomyces cerevisiae.  el tallo ribos\u00f3mico de esta levadura esta formado por cuatro prote\u00ednas \u00e1cidas (pis entre 3,0 y 4,0) de 12 kda y de una prote\u00edna de mayor tama\u00f1o y pi mas alto (aprox. 5,0) que forman un pent\u00e1mero el cual se une al resto del ribosomas a trav\u00e9s del dominio amino terminal de la prote\u00edna p0. Las prote\u00ednas \u00e1cidas forman dos familias diferentes con dos miembros cada una de ellas, p1a\/p1b y p2a\/p2b. De esta forma en el tallo en esta especie esta formado por cuatro prote\u00ednas \u00e1cidas diferentes, aunque aquellas que son del mismo grupo parecen tener una funci\u00f3n muy similar.  todas las prote\u00ednas, incluidas la prote\u00edna p0 tienen el mismo p\u00e9ptido terminal, eesdddmgfglfd.
