De forma mayoritaria las pacientes no ofrecen respuesta adversa, sin embargo, cerca del 5% desarrollan el s\u00edndrome de hiperestimulaci\u00f3n ov\u00e1rica (sho) caracterizado por aumento de permeabilidad vascular con salida y acumulaci\u00f3n de fluidos sangu\u00edneos en cavidad peritoneal y pulmonar. Nosotros hemos desarrollado un modelo animal de sho en el cual hemos podido asignar el aumento de pv al factor de crecimiento del endotelio vascular (vegf) que se sobreproduce casi exclusivamente a nivel ov\u00e1rico. Hemos ensayado la inhibici\u00f3n del vegf como posible tratamiento del sho con exitosos resultados por los que hemos sido galardonados internacionalmente.  asimismo hemos ensayado protocologos de estimulaci\u00f3 hormonal con bajas dosis de lh, que igualmente han sido exitosos en el descenso de vegf producido, pv y por lo tanto en el desarrollo del sho.
