Se ha determinado la composici\u00f3n i\u00f3nica de dichas salinas y se ha establecido el origen de las mismas. Mediante t\u00e9cnicas moleculares y de cultivo se logrado determinar la diversidad de organismos que habitan en estos ambientes. Desde el desarrollo de las t\u00e9cnicas moleculares, el estudio y caracterizaci\u00f3n procari\u00f3tica de muestras ambientales, ya sea de ambientes acu\u00e1ticos o terrestres se ha podido abordar de una forma mucho menos sesgada, pudiendo incluso facilitar la obtenci\u00f3n en cultivo puro de los microorganismos mas relevantes del ambiente. En este estudio se aplican ambas t\u00e9cnicas, tanto para el estudio de organismos procariotas como eucariotas.  Adem\u00e1s, se ha realizado un estudio comparativo de las comunidades encontradas en las salinas de maras con lo encontrado en otras partes del mundo. En general, los ambientes estudiados muestran caracter\u00edsticas generales semejantes a la de otras salinas talasohalinas, pero conservan caracter\u00edsticas propias como el cultivo de microorganismos mayoritarios del grupo archea, obtenidas mediante el estudio de genotecas ambientales y la presencia mayoritaria de bacterias del grupo de las gamma proteobacterias, que tambi\u00e9n logramoscultivar.Tambi\u00e9n se ha logrado el aislamiento y caracterizaci\u00f3n de nuevos microorganismos que constituir\u00edan una nueva especie microbiana y se plantea la reclasificaci\u00f3n de
