Se ha analizado trw c, una de las proteinas que forman parte del sistema de transferencia de r388. Trw c participa en el procesamiento del dna durante la transferencia de r388 a una nueva celula huesped. Se ha purificado trw c y se ha determinado que posee dos actividades interrelacionadas: atpasa dependiente de ssdna y helicasa. Para llevar a cabo su actividad helicasa, trw c, requiere la presencia de una cola de ssdna. Trw c no se une a un fragmento de dna duplex lineal que contiene el orit de r388 por lo que probablemente para su union a orit sea necesario que el dna se encuentre en forma superenrollada.
