Este forma parte del conjunto de ciclones del sistemade limpieza de gases en caliente de la central t\u00e9rmica de lecho fluido a presi\u00f3n de escatr\u00f3n.Concretamente, este sistema de limpieza lo componen nueve parejas de ciclones dispuestas en paralelo.Los gases se reparten entre estas nueve parejas formadas cada una de ellas por un cicl\u00f3n primario y enserie con \u00e9l, un cicl\u00f3n secundario. El cicl\u00f3n primario retira la mayor parte de las part\u00edculas s\u00f3lidasarrastradas por los gases y las descarga a trav\u00e9s de un conducto cil\u00edndrico vertical situado en su parteinferior. En este conducto de extracci\u00f3n o \u00abpata\u00bb es donde se ha centrado este trabajo. Para poder estudiarel funcionamiento del sistema frente a cambios en las condiciones de operaci\u00f3n se construy\u00f3 unainstalaci\u00f3n experimental que reproduce a escala una de estas parejas de ciclones y que trabaja con aire a 3bar(a) de presi\u00f3n y temperatura ambiente. Es en el cicl\u00f3n primario de \u00e9sta planta piloto donde se hanllevado a cabo los ensayos experimentales.
