Tradicionalmente, en estos protocolos los datos se transmiten de manera s\u00edncrona a una se\u00f1al de reloj. Dicha se\u00f1al de reloj se usa en los sistemas receptores para descodificar la informaci\u00f3n transmitida. Sin embargo, los fen\u00f3menos de propagaci\u00f3n asociados al medio de transmisi\u00f3n afectan negativamente a la calidad de las se\u00f1ales de forma proporcional a la distancia entre los enlaces. La consecuencia m\u00e1s importante es que las se\u00f1ales de datos llegan a los receptores adelantadas o retrasadas con respecto a la se\u00f1al de reloj. En transmisiones de grandes anchos de banda y frecuencia, este desfase temporal, m\u00e1s conocido en la literatura por skew, puede llegar a ser del mismo orden de magnitud que la anchura del periodo de la se\u00f1al de reloj. Este fen\u00f3meno es una limitaci\u00f3n com\u00fan a todos las tecnolog\u00edas de interconexi\u00f3n y depende exclusivamente de las caracter\u00edsticas f\u00edsicas del medio. Como resultado, el m\u00e1ximo ancho de banda est\u00e1 limitado por la naturaleza del medio empleado.  la transmisi\u00f3n de se\u00f1ales en modo diferencial, m\u00e1s conocida por su acr\u00f3nimo lvds (low voltage differential signalling), es hoy en d\u00eda uno de los est\u00e1ndares m\u00e1s populares debido a sus altas prestaciones y bajo coste. La \u00fanica limitaci\u00f3n de esta tecnolog\u00eda viene impuesta por la calidad del medio f\u00edsico empleado como canal de transmisi\u00f3n.  Para aliviar los efectos perjudiciales del skew, en los sistemas receptores se emplean los llamados circuitos regeneradores de reloj con el objeto de sincronizar las se\u00f1ales de datos y reloj. Dichos circuitos est\u00e1n basados tradicionalmente en bucles de enganche de fase.  el circuito integrado swift (switch for fault tolerance) presentado en esta tesis tiene por
