Su desarrollo se estrucrura en torno a tres bloques la revisi\u00f3n te\u00f3rica y emp\u00edrica del campo, su medida o evaluaci\u00f3n y su instrucci\u00f3n.  se inicia con una revisi\u00f3n te\u00f3rica sobre el concepto de metacognici\u00f3n asumido, el cual guiar\u00e1 la posterior operacionalizaci\u00f3n de los instrumentos, medidas y materiales instruccionales elaborados y desarrollados a lo largo de la tesis. Posteriormente se realiza un an\u00e1lisis espec\u00edfico sobre cu\u00e1l es la presencia e importancia atribuida a l componente metacognitivo en los principales modelos te\u00f3ricos de la composici\u00f3n escrita. Seguidamente se realiza una revisi\u00f3n te\u00f3rica y emp\u00edrica de las diferentes t\u00e9cnicas e instrumentos utilizados para la evaluaci\u00f3n de la metacognici\u00f3n, diferenciados en dos tipolog\u00edas de evaluaci\u00f3n off-line (cuestionario, entrevista, recuerdo estimulado, otros) vs. On-line (pensamiento en voz alta, tareas de investigaci\u00f3n, doble y triple tarea, observaci\u00f3n); realizando una revisi\u00f3n exhaustiva de su aplicaci\u00f3n emp\u00edrica en diferentes dominios acad\u00e9micos, y de modo espec\u00edfico en el \u00e1mbito de la composici\u00f3n escrita. Finalmente, se realiza una revisi\u00f3n de los principales modelos instruccionales utilizados en el tratamiento de la metacognici\u00f3n en la composici\u00f3n escrita: el modelo de desarrollo estrat\u00e9gico auto-regulado de graham y harris; el modelo de instrucci\u00f3n estrat\u00e9gica congnitiva en la composici\u00f3n escrita de englert; el modelo de aprendizaje de contenido estrat\u00e9gico de butler; el enfoque de estrategias espec\u00edficas de g\u00e9nero de wong et al., Y el modelo socio-cognitivo de adquisici\u00f3n secuencial de habilidades de auto-regulaci\u00f3n de zimmerman et al.
