El consumo medio actual per c\u00e1pita y a\u00f1o en europa oscila entre 3 y 30 kg, pero las perspectivas de futuro indican que seguir\u00e1 aumentando en los pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os en ultitud de aplicaciones entre las que destacan la construcci\u00f3n, el transporte y la fabricaci\u00f3n de envases.  el m\u00e9todo actual de producci\u00f3n de aluminio a gran escala, consiste en la electrol\u00edsis de la al\u00famina en un ba\u00f1o constituido principalmente por una mezlca de criolita s\u00f3dica, fluoruro de aluminio y al\u00famina.  una vez producido el aluminio metal, suele ser necesario realizar una nueva fusi\u00f3n denominada \u00abaluminio secundario\u00bb con el fin de obtener diversas aleaciones con otros metales: ti, fe, si, b, etc. Para conseguir que durante la fusi\u00f3n se produzca una estructura fina y uniforme se a\u00f1aden agentes de nucleaci\u00f3n. Los dos m\u00e1s empleados son el fluoroborato  pot\u00e1sico y el fluorotitanato pot\u00e1sico.  la empresa derivados del fl\u00faor s.A., Situada en ont\u00f3n, castro urdiales se dedica a la producci\u00f3n de compuestos inorg\u00e1nicos fluorados y entre ellos los cuatro mencionados anteriormente: fluoruro de aluminio, criolita s\u00f3dica, fluoroborato pot\u00e1sico y fluorotitanato
