El estudio te\u00f3rico realizado nos permite justificar los resultados estereoqu\u00edmicos obtenidos. Asimismo, se describe la preparaci\u00f3n de los beta-amino\u00e9steres y beta-amoni\u00e1cidos genialmente disustituidos derivados de estas beta-lactamas espir\u00e1nicas.  en el cap\u00edtulo 2 se estudian las aplicaciones sint\u00e9ticas de las cis 4-fonil espiro beta-lactamas derivadas de pirrolidina y piperidina como sustratos de partida para la obtenci\u00f3n de 1,4-diazabiciclo[4,3,0]nonan-5-onas y 1,4-diazabiciclo[4,4,0]decan-5-onas, respectivamente. Esta metodolog\u00eda se ha aplicado a la preparaci\u00f3n de compuestos biol\u00f3gicamente activos como ligandos de los receptores sigma. Adem\u00e1s, se describe el estudio te\u00f3rico del mecanismo de la reacci\u00f3n.  en el cap\u00edtulo 3 se expone la s\u00edntesis y resoluci\u00f3n de nuevas beta-lactamas espir\u00e1nicas derivadas de pirrolidina an\u00e1logas de nocardicinas y monobactamas, as\u00ed como su aplicaci\u00f3n a la preparaci\u00f3n de beta-amino\u00e9steres y beta-amino\u00e1cidos geminalmente disustituidos. Estos \u00faltimos han sido empleados como unidades base para la preparaci\u00f3n de beta- y alfa,beta-p\u00e9ptidos con capacidad potencial para adoptar estructuras secundarias de tipo helicoidal.  en el cap\u00edtulo 4 se encuentra recogida la s\u00edntesis diastereo- y enantioselectiva de nuevos sistemas tric\u00edclicos que incorporan un anillo beta-lact\u00e1mico fusionado a una 1,4-benzodiazepina por su cara d, mediante la reacci\u00f3n de cicloadici\u00f3n [2+2] ceteno-imina.
