En el presente trabajo se ha realizado la b\u00fasqueda en colecciones de arabidopsis thaliana mutagenizadas con t-dna de mutantes capaces de germinar en condiciones de alta sal (nacl), identific\u00e1ndose tres loci mutantes, inicialmente denominados sre1, sre2 y sre3 (\u00absalt resistant\u00bb). Los mutantes sre, adem\u00e1s de su capacidad para germinar y establecer pl\u00e1ntula en condiciones de estr\u00e9s osm\u00f3tico, mostraban una germinaci\u00f3n resistente a paclobutrazol, latencia muy reducida, mayor transpiraci\u00f3n y niveles de aba en hojas de roseta significativamente menores que plantas silvestres. El an\u00e1lisis de complementaci\u00f3n revel\u00f3 que los mutantes sre1 eran al\u00e9licos al mutante aba2-1, los mutante sre2 eran al\u00e9licos al mutante aao3-1 y el mutante sre3 era al\u00e9lico al mutante aba1-5. As\u00ed, el aba bloquea la germinaci\u00f3n y el establecimiento de la pl\u00e1ntula en condiciones de bajo potencial h\u00eddrico, por lo que mutantes capaces de germinar en condiciones de estr\u00e9s osm\u00f3tico representan frecuentemente mutantes defectivos en la bios\u00edntesis de aba.  mediante una combinaci\u00f3n de las estrategias de mapeo posicional y gen candidato se llev\u00f3 a cabo la identificaci\u00f3n del gen aba2 y de las mutaciones sre1-1\/aba2-11 y sre1-2\/aba2-12. El gen aba2 (at1g52340) codifica una alcohol deshidrogenasa de cadena corta dependiente de nad+ (sdr). La mutaci\u00f3n sre1-1\/aba2-11 es debida a una deleci\u00f3n de 53 pb que tambi\u00e9n supone un cambio en la pauta de lectura, generando un alelo nulo de aba2. La mutaci\u00f3n sre1-2\/aba2-12 conduce a la sustituci\u00f3n gly28arg, afectando al sitio de uni\u00f3n del coenzima. mediante un an\u00e1lisis hplc-ms se ha demostrado que la prote\u00edna
