En esta tesis se ha realizado un modelo de planificaci\u00f3n de sistemas umts mediante sistemas de informaci\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica (arc\/info) potente que provee una base de datos geogr\u00e1fica adaptable y capaz de hacer todo tipo de tareas sobre esta informaci\u00f3n utilizando mapas digitales que reflejan el estado real del entorno en el \u00e1rea a planificar. el hecho de elegir el arc\/info, un sistema de informaci\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica potente para nuestra aplicaci\u00f3n de planificaci\u00f3n de sistemas celulares, es por sus grandes ventajas y su sencillez de uso sobre sistemas operativos robustas como el unix.  este modelo de planificaci\u00f3n utiliza modelos de propagaci\u00f3n que dan buen margen de la predicci\u00f3n de las perdidas de propagaci\u00f3n que tienen en cuenta los edificios y las calles del entorno urbano, as\u00ed los resultados tendr\u00e1n m\u00e1s precisi\u00f3n a la hora de planificaci\u00f3n.  la planificaci\u00f3n radio en umts tiene por finalidad realizar los c\u00e1lculos de cobertura y capacidad, con objeto de optimizar el despliegue de las estaciones bases y as\u00ed cumplir los objetivos de calidad de servicio establecidos por el operador. En esta tesis se ha analizado en general los factores m\u00e1s importantes que afectan a la capacidad y en especial se ha estudiado en m\u00e1s detalles el efecto del coeficiente de correlaci\u00f3n
