Estos complejos se han caracterizado de forma estructural, espectrosc\u00f3pica y electroqu\u00edmica. En acetonitrilo en medio b\u00e1sico, el is\u00f3mero trans,cis-[rucl2(hbpp)(dmso)2] da lugar a procesos de isomerizaci\u00f3n de enlace de un ligando dmso cuando el ru(ii) se oxida a ru(iii). Las constantes termodin\u00e1micas y cin\u00e9ticas para el proceso se han determinado por voltametria c\u00edclica. La irradiaci\u00f3n de trans,cis-[rucl2(hbpp)(dmso)2] y cis(out), cis-[rucl2(hbpp)(dmso)2] con luz uv o solar da lugar a reacciones de fotosustituci\u00f3n de un ligando dmso por una mol\u00e9cula de acetonitrilo. El nuevo complejo ha sido caracterizado en soluci\u00f3n por t\u00e9cnicas espectrosc\u00f3picas y electroqu\u00edmicas. Ambos complejos resultan catalizadores \u00fatiles en la transferencia de hidr\u00f3geno de isopropanol a acetofenona, obteni\u00e9ndose 1-feniletanol como \u00fanico producto y un 42.1% de conversi\u00f3n (36.1 ciclos met\u00e1licos) a 80\u00c2\u00bac con el is\u00f3mero trans, cis-[rucl2(hbpp)(dmso)2], que resulta significativamente m\u00e1s eficaz que el complejo cis(out), cis-[rucl2(hbpp)(dmso)2].  la reacci\u00f3n  de cis(out),cis-[rucl2(hbpp)(dmso)2] con trpy da lugar a los dos is\u00f3meros geom\u00e9tricos del complejo [ru(hbpp)(trpy)(cl)]+, el in y el out. Estos complejos se han aislado y caracterizado por t\u00e9cnicas estructurales, espectrosc\u00f3picas y electroqu\u00edmicas. Estos cloro complejos han sido utilizados como precursores para la s\u00edntesis de los complejos an\u00e1logos con ligandos aqua (in,out-[ru(hbpp)(trpy)(h2o)]2+) y piridina (in, out-[ru(hbpp)(trpy)(py)]2+), los cuales tambi\u00e9n han sido aislados y caracterizados.
