Esta excepcional circunstancia ha permitido que en la actualidad podamos disfrutar de la colecci\u00f3n guasp, conformada por 1590 matrices xilogr\u00e1ficas, verdaderas joyas del arte gr\u00e1fico, estimables no s\u00f3lo por la cantidad, sino tambi\u00e9n por la variedad y la calidad de muchas de sus piezas. En l\u00edneas generales puede decirse que las xilograf\u00edas abarcan el largo per\u00edodo que va de finales del siglo xv o principios del xvi, al xx, con predominio de las del siglo xviii, y abordan una amplia selecci\u00f3n de tem\u00e1ticas y tipolog\u00edas diferentes. Si bien, la parte m\u00e1s cuantiosa de la colecci\u00f3n est\u00e1 constituida por im\u00e1genes religiosas, especialmente representaciones de las advocaciones mallorquinas m\u00e1s populares que nos permiten un recorrido exhaustivo por la iconograf\u00eda religiosa m\u00e1s com\u00fan en la isla, no escasean im\u00e1genes profanas de todo tipo (elementos tipogr\u00e1ficos, her\u00e1ldica, cartograf\u00eda, estampas l\u00fadicas, etc.) De gran inter\u00e9s para diferentes disciplinas.  todo ello convierte a la colecci\u00f3n guasp en una de las colecciones m\u00e1s valiosas de espa\u00f1a y, posiblemente, de europa y, por supuesto, la convierte en un fondo documental y art\u00edstico inapreciable para el patrimonio hist\u00f3rico-art\u00edstico mallorqu\u00edn. Por todo lo dicho, creo que era imprescindible la catalogaci\u00f3n pormenorizada de todas sus piezas, ya que catalogar y dar a conocer esta importante colecci\u00f3n contribuir\u00e1, sin duda, a incrementar su valoraci\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica y muse\u00edstica, pero tambi\u00e9n significar\u00e1 potenciar una pol\u00edtica de control y conservaci\u00f3n del
