Uno de los ejemplos mejor caracterizados es la respuesta frente al cambio de osmolaridad del medio, pero la mayor\u00eda de trabajos se han centrado en el estudio de genes cuya expresi\u00f3n se induce a elevada osmolaridad. Mediante mutag\u00e9nesis al azar con el transpos\u00f3n mudj se dise\u00f1o una estrategia para identificar genes en salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium cuya expresi\u00f3n se viera reducida a elevada osmolaridad. siguiendo esta estrategia se identific\u00f3 el gen yfer, que codifica para una prote\u00edna, yfer, descrita en los bancos de datos como hipot\u00e9tico regulador de la familia lysr de reguladores transcripionales. Los miembros de esta familia son generalmente prote\u00ednas activadoreas de la transcripci\u00f3n y se encuentran en muchos g\u00e9neros procariotas, regulando genes u operones que codifican funciones posibilidad de pertenecer a la familia lysr, se plante\u00f3 como objetivo de esta tesis doctoral estudiar el modelo de regulaci\u00f3n de yfer.  el an\u00e1lisis de secuencia de la prote\u00edna yfer revel\u00f3 caracter\u00edsticas distintivas de los reguladores transcripcionales lysr: un extremo n-terminal altamente conservado con un cominio \u00abhelix-turn-helix\u00bb de uni\u00f3n al adn; una cadena aminoac\u00eddica de 308 residuos (prote\u00ednas lysr tienen 300+\/- 20 aas), una relaci\u00f3n lys\/arg an\u00f3mala; adem\u00e1s de la homolog\u00eda tanto con reguladores de la familia descritos como tal como con hipot\u00e9ticos reguladores lysr. al proporcionar el producto del gen yfer en trans su expresi\u00f3n se autorregula negativamente, capacidad que presentan la mayor\u00eda de reguladores lysr. en la regi\u00f3n promotora del gen yfer se localiz\u00f3 una secuencia de uni\u00f3n de las porte\u00edneas lysr, t-n11-a, con la t y la a formando parte de una regi\u00f3n invertida.
