Se dise\u00f1aron dos experimentos. Ambos se basaron en niveles crecientes de acetato de alfa-tocoferol (0,100,200 y 400 mg\/kg) y \u00e1cidos grasos poliinsaturados en los piensos. En la primera prueba, el gradiente de poliinsaturaci\u00f3n se obtuvo al reemplazar una grasa saturada (sebo) con una mezcla de acietes insaturados (aceites de linaza y pescado), manteniendo siempre el nivel de inclusi\u00f3n de la grasa a\u00f1adida constante (9%). En la segunda parte, el gradiente se cre\u00f3 incrementando el nivel de inclusi\u00f3n de la grasa a\u00f1adida (2,4,6 y 8%), utilizando una mezcla de aceites de linaza y pescado. Se utilizaron un total de 192 broilers hembras en cada experimento. Durante el periodo experimental, se realizaron 2 balances para determinar la energ\u00eda metabolizable aparente, la absorci\u00f3n aparente de la materia org\u00e1nica, la grasa bruta, los \u00e1cidos grasos y el alfa-tocoferol, y el porcentaje de hidr\u00f3lisis del acetato de alfa-tocoferol.  al final de cada estudio (44 y 40 d\u00edas de edad respectivamente), la mitad de los animales fueron sacrificados mediante inyecci\u00f3n letal y la otra mitad se sacrificaron en un matadero comercial. Los primeros se conservaron enteros (incluyendo sangre y plumas) y los \u00faltimos se despiezaron, obteni\u00e9ndose la grasa abdominal y el h\u00edgado. Se cuantificaron los \u00e1cidos grasos y el alfa-tocoferol en el cuerpo entero.  alfa-tocoferol tambi\u00e9n se determin\u00f3 en el h\u00edgado. Tambi\u00e9n se analiz\u00f3 la composici\u00f3n qu\u00edmica y el contenido en energ\u00eda bruta del pollo entero. El aumento del grado de poliinsaturaci\u00f3n diet\u00e9tico manteniendo el nivel de inclusi\u00f3n de la grasa constante (prueba 1) tuvo efecto sobre la energ\u00eda metablizable parente de los piensos.
