Las danas fueron identificadas utilizando datos de rean\u00e1lisis ncar-ncep y mediante un m\u00e9todo objetivo que se basa en la imposici\u00f3n consecutiva y restrictiva de cuatro de las caracter\u00edsticas f\u00edsicas del modelo conceptual de dana (m\u00ednimo de geopotencial, circulaci\u00f3n cerrada y aislada del flujo general, m\u00ednimo de espesor equivalente y m\u00ednimo de pft en la alta troposfera). Este m\u00e9todo de imposici\u00f3n de condiciones restrictivas minimiza la posibilidad de considerar como danas sistemas diferentes.  la base de datos que se obtiene es una buena herramienta para poder realizar un an\u00e1lisis exhaustivo en t\u00e9rminos climatol\u00f3gicos de las danas -an\u00e1lisis de distribuci\u00f3n espacial y temporal, duraciones y trayectorias m\u00e1s habituales-, as\u00ed como poder estudiar los efectos sobre aquellas  regiones a las que afectan las danas (siendo en este trabajo la pen\u00ednsula ib\u00e9rica).  los resultados alcanzados en este estudio revelan nuevas e interesantes propiedades de las danas y nos permiten validar otras ya conocidas y poder extenderlas a un per\u00edodo de tiempo mayor.  los resultados obtenidos del an\u00e1lisis de la distribuci\u00f3n espacial de las danas para todo el hemisferio norte indican la existencia de tres \u00e1reas preferentes su ocurrencia: el sur de europa y la costa este del oc\u00e9ano atl\u00e1ntico, el noreste del oc\u00e9ano pac\u00edfico y el norte de china y las regiones de siberia extendi\u00e9ndose hasta la costa noroeste del pacifico. De entre las tres regiones es el \u00e1rea europea la de mayor frecuencia de danas. Esto muestra que las danas ocurren preferentemente en las inmediaciones de las principales vaguadas del flujo circumpolar de larga escala.  otro de los resultados muestra que las danas se forman en
