Adem\u00e1s de ser nutriente se puede considerar a la glucosa como una \u00abhormona de crecimiento\u00bb, ya que regula varios aspectos del crecimiento, metabolismo y desarrollo celular.  en saccharomyces cerevisiae la presencia de glucosa tiene distintos efectos en la maquinaria metab\u00f3lica, as\u00ed pues, fen\u00f3menos a largo plazo suponen un control de la expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9nica mediante dos rutas diferentes denominadas: ruta de inducci\u00f3n y ruta de represi\u00f3n. Mediante la ruta de r~resiqn se inactiva la expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9nica de un gran n\u00famero de genes tales como los genes responsables de la utilizaci\u00f3n de otras fuentes de carbono distintas a la glucosa, de la gluconeog\u00e9nesis y la respiraci\u00f3n; por el contrario, mediante la ruta de inducci\u00f3n se activan los genes responsables de la utilizaci\u00f3n de la glucosa, tales como genes que codifican para enzimas glicol\u00edticos y transportadores de glucosa, hxts, (1-5). En los \u00faltimos afios se han caracterizado distintos componentes del sistema de represi\u00f3n. Siendo el complejo protein-kinasa snfl (1) un componente clave y esencial para la activaci\u00f3n de los genes reprimidos por glucosa. El complejo se encuentra activo en condiciones de baja glucosa, y su actividad esta regulada negativamente por la hexoquinasa ii, hxk2 (6), y el complejo fosfatasa regl\/glc7 (7,8). El gen del transportador de glucosa de baja afmidad, hxtl (9), se induce en altas concentraciones de glucosa, y la regulaci\u00f3n de su expresi\u00f3n se utiliza como modelo en el estudio de la ruta de inducci\u00f3n por glucosa. En dicho sistema se han descrito varias mol\u00e9culas. Los sensores de membrana de baja y alta afinidad, rgt2 y snf3 (10), que inician la transmisi\u00f3n de la se\u00f1al a trav\u00e9s de grrl (11,12), mol\u00e9cula que forma parte del sistema de
