Durante el desarrollo larvario crecen r\u00e1pidamente y el n\u00famero de c\u00e9lulas se incrementa unas mil veces. Durante la metamorfosis dan lugar a las estructuras cuticulares adultas (alas, patas, ojos.). Hay evidencia de que la actividad de la via dpp es necesaria para el crecimiento del disco de ala. En esta tesis se ha analizado el papel de la ruta de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n de dpp en el crecimiento del disco de ala generando diferentes genotipos con distintos niveles de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n de dpp y examinando sus efectos en el tama\u00f1o del ala. El nivel de activaci\u00f3n de la via se correlaciona con el tama\u00f1o final.  as\u00ed, dpp promueve crecimiento de forma dependiente de concentraci\u00f3n. Por el contrario, el gen brinker (brk) se comporta como un represor de crecimiento, y su efecto inhibidor tambi\u00e9n n \u00abes dependiente de concentraci\u00f3n. Dado que la actividad de dp\u00bbp reprime la expresi\u00f3n de brk, el efecto de dpp en crecimiento est\u00e1 mediado por la represi\u00f3n de brk. Se han estudiado algunos aspectos del modo de acci\u00f3n de brk y se observa una apoptosis local donde hay una discontinuidad en su expresi\u00f3n, pero su papel principal respecto a crecimiento es disminuir la tasa de divisi\u00f3n. Brk probablemente reprime la expresi\u00f3n de genes que controlan proliferaci\u00f3n celular, como bantam. adem\u00e1s, hay una expresi\u00f3n ect\u00f3pica del mirna de bantam que se correlaciona
