En particular, el trabajo de investigaci\u00f3n se ha centrado en conocer c\u00f3mo afectan a las propiedades \u00f3pticas y magn\u00e9ticas de estos materiales las variaciones de la estructura provocadas por cambios en la composici\u00f3n, el volumen o por transiciones de fases inducidas por presi\u00f3n o temperatura. La consecuci\u00f3n de estos objetivos ha requerido caracterizar el material tanto a nivel de estructura a largo alcance como local alrededor del i\u00f3n jt. Para ello se han realizado experiencias de difracci\u00f3n y absorci\u00f3n rayos x, as\u00ed como de espectroscop\u00eda \u00f3ptica baho presi\u00f3n que han permitido una completa caracterizaci\u00f3n estructural de los compuestos laminares de cloruros de cu2+ (serie a2cucl4) y fluoruros de mn3+ (amnf4), as\u00ed como de la estructura electr\u00f3nica. La variaci\u00f3n de las bandas de absorci\u00f3n \u00f3ptica con la presi\u00f3n a lo largo de la serie amnf4 nos ha permitido obtener la variaci\u00f3n de la energ\u00eda jt con la presi\u00f3n y los coeficientes de acoplamiento electr\u00f3n-vibraci\u00f3n asociados a los niveles eg y t2g. Estas experiencias se han realizado en nuestro laboratorio y en grandes instalaciones de neutrones (llb) y de radiaci\u00f3n sincrotr\u00f3n \/lure y esrp), tanto en condiciones ambiente como bajo presi\u00f3n en los compuestos sleccionados para esta investigaci\u00f3n. adem\u00e1s del trabajo experimental ha sido necesario desarrollar modelos fenomenol\u00f3gicos basados en la teor\u00eda de campo cristalino y la teor\u00eda de grupos finitos con el fin de establecer conexiones entre las estructuras electr\u00f3nica y geom\u00e9trica, y con ello disponer de una herramienta precisa para predecir estructuras y propiedades.
