As\u00ed las cosas, la cr\u00edtica hisp\u00e1nica ocupada de la prosa \u00e1urea contin\u00faa, a d\u00eda de hoy, sin poder delimitar en consenso terminante la naturaleza de la novela picaresca: mientras que unos rechazan al lazarillo su car\u00e1cter de verdadero ejemplo de la picaresca y otros reducen el grupo picaresco al lazarillo y el guzm\u00e1n, hay quien acaba por hacer de esta etiqueta un caj\u00f3n de sastre donde arrumar antecedentes tales como la celestina y toda una progenie seiscentina. Hijas de tales discrepancias fueron las pol\u00e9micas durante a\u00f1os mantenidas por cr\u00edticos tan sobresalientes como l\u00e1zaro carreter y bataillon, de un lado, y parker la escuela brit\u00e1nica del otro.  con todo, las excelentes taxonom\u00edas propuestas por varios cr\u00edticos desde claudio guill\u00e9n presentan un v\u00e1lido punto de partida para diseccionar la novela \u00e1urea espa\u00f1ola hasta diagnosticar el exacto picarismo de las obras que por picaresca se tienen. Este trabajo de investigaci\u00f3n se propone analizar la progresi\u00f3n de la novela picaresca desde el lazarillo hasta su consolidaci\u00f3n como variedad narrativa en europa. Nuestro itinerario nos conducir\u00e1 desde las salamanca y toledo de lazarillo y, de la mano del errante estebanillo gonz\u00e1lez, nuestra investigaci\u00f3n pasar\u00e1 a europa, donde la picaresca engendr\u00f3 una suerte de literatura de corte picaral de que son m\u00e1ximos exponentes el gil blas franc\u00e9s y el simplicissimus germano, hasta arrivar a la gran breta\u00f1a setecentina. Delimitar el g\u00e9nero picaresque fiction, propuesto por la cr\u00edtica angloparlante, se nos parece imperativo desde la perspectiva del hispanismo, lo que solo se ha abordado con referencia a moll
