La pureza \u00f3ptica de estos compuestos es trascendental en su aplicaci\u00f3n puesto que, habitualmente, los distintos is\u00f3meros quirales de un misma mol\u00e9cula presentan diferente actividad biol\u00f3gica. Existen diferentes procedimientos para la preparaci\u00f3n de mol\u00e9culas quirales de forma enantiopura, destacando la epoxidaci\u00f3n asim\u00e9trica de sharpless, procedimiento que, basado en el uso de unalc\u00f3xido de titanio, como catalizador presenta inconvenientes, como la elevada sensibilidad del catalizador frente a deierminados agentes como el agua, o la necesidad de operar a bajas temperaturas. Estos problemas, derivados de la naturaleza homog\u00e9nea del catalizador, podr\u00edan ser solventados mediante la heterogenizaci\u00f3n del sistema catal\u00edtico. En este contexto se consider\u00f3 de inter\u00e9s llevar a cabo un estudio dirigido hacia la posible inmovilizaci\u00f3n del catalizador de sharpless sobre los distintos soportes s\u00f3lidos asl como el desarrollo de nuevos sistemas catal\u00edticos que permitieran solventar los problemas ya mencionados del proceso. De este modo, esta tesis doctoral aborda el estudio de los aspectos claves a considerar para la heterogenizaci\u00f3n de un catalizador homog\u00e9neo como el de sharpless, estudios que incluyen la sintesis de s\u00f3lidos mesoestructurados, el desarrollo de nuevos catallzadores sio2-tio2 y su aplicaci\u00f3n en epoxidacion asim\u00e9trica, la modificaci\u00f3n de ligandos uirales para su anclaje en soportes s\u00f3lidos y el desarrollo de nuevos complejos organomet\u00e1licos para la epoxidaci\u00f3nasim\u00e9trica de alcoholes al\u00edllcos. Asi, el plan de trabajo desarrollado se estructur\u00f3 en cuatro etapas, cuyo desarrollo se resume a continuaci\u00f3n:  1\u00c2\u00b0.- Estudio de la actividad del catalizador de sharpless.
