Putida u. \u00e9stos se encuentran en tres zonas distintas del dna. En la primera de ellas existen tres genes: phha y phhb se transcriben en el mismo sentido y codifican el sistema de hidroxilaci\u00f3n de la fenilalanina a tirosina y phhr se transcribe en sentido opuesto y codifica una prote\u00edna reguladora de dicha hidroxilasa. En el segundo fragmento aparece el gen aat que codifica una de las posibles aminotransferasas que transforma la tirosina en \u00e1cido 4-hidroxifenilpir\u00favico. En el tercer fragmento se encuentra el gen hpd que codifica la enzima p-hidroxifenilpiruvato dioxigenasa, que es la encargada de transformar el \u00e1cido 4-hidroxifenilpir\u00favico en \u00e1cido homogent\u00edsico.  se han identificado y caracterizado los genes implicados en la ruta central de degradaci\u00f3n de fenilalanina y de tirosina en p. Putida u. Estos genes forman una agrupaci\u00f3n g\u00e9nica en la que tres de ellos (hmgabc) se transcriben en el mismo sentido (oper\u00f3n del homogent\u00edsico) y un cuarto gen (hmgr) lo hace de manera divergente. El oper\u00f3n del homogent\u00edsico est\u00e1 constituido por el gen hmga que codifica la enzima homogentisato dioxigenasa, el gen hmgb que codifica la enzima fumarilecetoacetato hidrolasa y el gen hmgc que dcodifica la enzima maleilacetoacetato isomerasa. El gen hmgr codifica una prote\u00edna represora que regula el oper\u00f3n del homogent\u00edsico.  otros estudios nos permitieron concluir que la degradaci\u00f3n del \u00e1cido 3- hidroxifenilac\u00e9tico converge con la degradaci\u00f3n de fenilalanina y tirosina a nivel del \u00e1cido homogent\u00edsico, lo que pone de manifiesto que la degradaci\u00f3n de este compuesto es una ruta central del catabolismo de diversos compuestos relacionados estructuralmente (l-rirosina, l-fenilalanina y \u00e1cido 3-hidroxifenilac\u00e9tico).  se han identificado y caracterizado los
