A escalas espaciotemporales grandes, el movimiento de los animales y los fen\u00f3menos de dispersi\u00f3n pueden entenderse como procesos de b\u00fasqueda al azar. En concreto, nosotros hemos modelado el movimiento animal y los fen\u00f3menos de dispersi\u00f3n mediante una clase de paseos al azar conocidos como vuelos de l\u00e9vy, los cuales se basan en la distribuci\u00f3n estable de l\u00e9vy. Los vuelos de l\u00e9vy se incluyen dentro de una clase m\u00e1s amplia de procesos estoc\u00e1sticos basados en la distribuci\u00f3n estable de l\u00e9vy, que reciben el nombre gen\u00e9tico de procesos de l\u00e9vy . Los vuelos l\u00e9vy introducen en el mundo de los paseos al azar dos propiedades estad\u00edsticas enormemente relevantes: la super difusi\u00f3n y la invarianza de escala. Ambos fen\u00f3menos han sido descritos en relaci\u00f3n al movimiento animal a gran escala y\/o en relaci\u00f3n a ciertos procesos de dispersi\u00f3n. a su vez, estos dos fen\u00f3menos influyen directamente en las probabilidades de encuentro tanto a nivel individual (procesos de b\u00fasqueda de recursos) como a nivel poblacional(proceso de colonizaci\u00f3n en h\u00e1bitats fragmentados). la aproximaci\u00f3n al problema del movimiento animal y a los fen\u00f3menos de dispersi\u00f3n propuestos en esta tesis en novedosa no tan s\u00f3lo en un sentido estrictamente metodol\u00f3gico (i.E, aplicaci\u00f3 dela f\u00edsica estad\u00edstica y de los procesos de l\u00e9vy al movimiento animal), sino tambi\u00e9n porque se fundmenta en una serie de principios estad\u00edsticos que hasta la fecha no han sido considerados en el estudio del movimiento animal.  las principales conclusiones derivadas del trabajo realizado en esta tesis son:  1. Las propiedades estad\u00edsticas que se derivan de los procesos de l\u00e9vy (i.E.
