Estas ros pueden reaccionar con biomol\u00e9culas como l\u00edpidos, prote\u00ednas y dna e inactivar su funci\u00f3n, por lo que las c\u00e9lulas han desarrollado actividades enzim\u00e1ticas que se encargan de mantener niveles no-t\u00f3xicos de estos oxidantes.  Se llama estr\u00e9s oxidativo a la situaci\u00f3n en la cual se produce un incremento en la concentraci\u00f3n intracelular de ros como consecuencia de un aumento en la generaci\u00f3n o una disminuci\u00f3n en la degradaci\u00f3n de las mismas.  En respuesta a estr\u00e9s oxidativo, la c\u00e9lula activa rutas de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n y factores de transcripci\u00f3n espec\u00edficos que activan la expresi\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas antioxidantes encargadas de reestablecer los niveles redox intracelulares y de reparar los desperfectos causados por estos oxidantes.  la levadura schizosaccharomyces pombe es un organismo modelo ideal para el estudio de las respuestas a estr\u00e9s oxidativo en las c\u00e9lulas eucariotas ya que posee sensores espec\u00edficos a estr\u00e9s oxidativo como el factor de transcripci\u00f3n pap1 (pombe ap-1-like) y rutas de respuesta global a estr\u00e9s, como las descritas en las c\u00e9lulas de mam\u00edfero, que son activadas por diferentes tipos de estr\u00e9s.  En el centro de esta ruta de respuesta global a estr\u00e9s se encuentra la mapk (mitogen-activated protein kinase) sty1.  el factor de transcripci\u00f3n pap1, de localizaci\u00f3n citoplasm\u00e1tica basal, se acumula en el n\u00facleo en respuesta a estr\u00e9s oxidativo.  Este cambio de localizaci\u00f3n subcelular es debido a la inhibici\u00f3n del exporte nuclear dependiente de crm1, aunque se desconoc\u00eda el mecanismo  molecular utilizado por este factor de
