Estos intermedios se prepararon por apertura reductora de una serie de \u00e9teres y tio\u00e9teres c\u00edclicos benc\u00edclicos, empleando como agentes de litiaci\u00f3n bien litio en exceso y una catidad catal\u00edtica de areno como agente transportador de electrones , o bien una cantidad estequiom\u00e9trica de arenuro de litio. Se puede estructurar la presente memoria en tres bloques heterociclos benzocondensados. Se han estudiado los siguietes aspectos:  a) nuevas condiciones de reacci\u00f3n que permiten disminuir la cantidad de litio en exceso cuando se aumenta la escala de reacci\u00f3n;  b) la reactividad de compuestos organol\u00edticos funcionalizados frente electr\u00f3filos proestereog\u00e9nicos,  c) la regioqu\u00edmica en la apertura reductora de heterociclos no sim\u00e9trica sustituidos. La reacci\u00f3n de los compuestos organol\u00edticos (generados a partir de la apertura reductora de fitalano (1) e isocromano (19)) con electr\u00f3filos , como compuestos carbon\u00edlicos e iminas, conduce a dioles o aminoalcoholes , respectivamente , heterociclos naflel\u00e9nicos. Se ha estudiado la apertura reductora del benzoisocromeno 45 y de su an\u00e1logo azufrado el benzoisotiocromeno 59, siendo particularmente interesante la doble secuencia delitiaci\u00f3n-reaci\u00f3n conelectr\u00f3filo en el caso del derivado oxigenado. Esta metodolog\u00eda permite introducir dos electr\u00f3filos diferentes en ambas posiciones benc\u00edlicas actuando este heterociclo como un sint\u00f3n 1,8-diani\u00f3nico del 1,8-dimetilnaflaleno, -heterociclos binaf\u00edlicos. Se han estudiado las condiciones de reacci\u00f3n en la apertura reductora de heterociclos oxigenados y azufrados para la mono- y doble-funcionalizaci\u00f3n en posiciones benc\u00edlicas .
