Las neuronas de proyecci\u00f3n son excitadoral (utilizan glutamato como neurotransmisor); por el contrario, las interneuronas son inhibidoras (utilizan gaba). Para un correcto funcionamiento de la corteza cerebral es necesario que exista una delicada coordinaci\u00f3n entre la actividad de las neuronas de proyecci\u00f3n y las interneuronas. Las interneuronas corticales se originan fuera de la corteza cerebral , en el subpallium, y llegan a su destino a trav\u00e9s de una larga migraci\u00f3n tangencial furante el desarrollo . En esta t\u00e9sis doctoral se describen los mecan\u00edsmos moleculares implicados en guiar esta migraci\u00f3n. La mayor\u00eda de las interneuronas nacen en una regi\u00f3n denominada eminencia ganglionar medial y migran dorsalemente a la corteza. Hemos descubierto que, se\u00f1ales repulsivas de la parte m\u00e1s ventral del telenc\u00e9falo cooperan con se\u00f1ales atractivas corticales para guiar  a las interneuronas a la corteza. El an\u00e1lisis de los ratones dobles mutantes para las prote\u00ednas slit1 y slit2 revel\u00f3 que su funci\u00f3n no es necesaria para la repulsi\u00f3n ventral de las interneuronas. M\u00faltiples experimentos de embriolog\u00eda experimental , as\u00ed como el an\u00e1lisis de ratones mutantes nos permiti\u00f3 afirmar que la proteina neuregulina-1 con su se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n
