Inmaculada Concepci\u00f3n <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>La contaminaci\u00f3n creciente a la que est\u00e1 siendo sometido el medio natural es  un problema que requiere urgente soluci\u00f3n. Entre los agentes qu\u00edmicos  contaminantes se encuentran oxianiones t\u00f3xicos como arseniato y arsenito  utilizados como plaguicidas, nitratos, empleados como fertilizantes y otros  oxianiones, procedentes de procesos industriales, tales como el telurito,  seleniato, clorato, entre otros. Estos compuestos se acumulan en el suelo, de  donde pasan a las capas fre\u00e1ticas y a las aguas continentales, imposibilitando  su uso para el consumo.  se ha purificado y caracterizado la nitrato reductasa peripl\u00e1smica de  rhodobacter sphaeroides dsm158. Adem\u00e1s, se ha caracterizado el metabolismo y  la resistencia a telurito, arseniato, arsenito, seleniato, selenita, clorato y  perclorato en las bacterias gram negativas fotosint\u00e9ticas rhodobacter  sphaeroides dsm158 que posee una nitrato reductasa peripl\u00e1smica (nap+),  rhodobacter capsulatus e1f1 cuya nitrato reductasa es asimiladora (nas+) y  rhodobacter capsulatus b10 que carece de nitrato reductasas (nap-, nas-), y en  la bacteria gram positiva no fotosint\u00e9tica rhodococcus sp. Rb1 (nas+). Tambi\u00e9n  se estudi\u00f3 la posible implicaci\u00f3n de las nitrato reductasas de los organismos  empleados en la reducci\u00f3n de estos oxianiones, ya que se ha descrito que  dichas enzimas pueden catalizar la reducci\u00f3n de oxianiones. Finalmente, se han  puesto a punto m\u00e9todos colorim\u00e9tricos de medida de concentraci\u00f3n de algunos de  estos oxianiones.  la nap de r. Sphaeroides puede reducir clorato, telurito, seleniato y  selenita. Esta bacteria posee las reductasas espec\u00edficas para cada uno de los  oxianiones empleados excepto para perclorato, y al igual que la bacteria  rhodococcus sp. Rb1, posee telurito y selenita reductasas respiradoras. La  bacteria rhodococcus sp. Rb1 tambi\u00e9n respira (per)clorato.
