Estos episodios se registran a lo largo del a\u00f1o aunque, caracterizados por alguna variable que informe simult\u00e1neamente sobre su amplitud y duraci\u00f3n, la distribuci\u00f3n temporal de esa variable muestra claro bias hacia los meses de verano. Las frecuencias de estas oscilaciones son caracter\u00edsticas de los lugares en que se han medido, observ\u00e1ndose una respuesta m\u00e1s selectiva en tarifa que en ceuta y algeciras. Se prueba mediante la aplicaci\u00f3n de un modelo num\u00e9rico que estas frecuencias son resonancias de los puertos excitadas a su vez por modos normales de la regi\u00f3n del estrecho de gibraltar (dominio regional). Se ha aplicado un modelo evolutivo para explorar las distintas posibilidades de excitaci\u00f3n de oscilaciones de corto periodo en el dominio regional como, por ejemplo, los cambios bruscos de estado de equilibrio (manifestaci\u00f3n de un transitorio) o, por el contrario, forzamiento por perturbaciones atmosf\u00e9ricas pseudo peri\u00f3dicas de alta frecuencia propag\u00e1ndose por el dominio. Aunque se detectan ciertas caracter\u00edsticas que podr\u00edan hacer pensar en la primera categor\u00eda, hay otras incompatibles con ella, en particular las amplitudes de las oscilaciones. El forzamiento de los puertos por oscilaciones de corto periodo del dominio regional indica ganancias de entre 5 y 10 en aquellos en funci\u00f3n de la fricci\u00f3n modelada, lo que es suficiente para explicar la amplitud de las oscilaciones recogidas en los mareogramas. Summary tide gauge records from different ports of the strait of gibraltar area show events of short period oscillations (minutes to tens of minutes) that persist for several days although its characteristic duration is rather of the order of a day.
