El sistema ha sido concebido para aunar tanto comprensi\u00f3n sin p\u00e9rdidas como comprensi\u00f3n con p\u00e9rdidas. Presenta un nuevo mecanismo de codificacic\u00f3n de componentes adaptado a la utilizaci\u00f3n que planos de subcomponentes. Tambi\u00e9n se incluye un algoritmo de alineaci\u00f3n de los subcomponentes que permite adaptar su disposici\u00f3n a las necesidades de la aplicaci\u00f3n.  adem\u00e1s, se utiliza un novedoso codificador entr\u00f3pico que da como resultado una estructura de trama f\u00e1cilmente manejable.  el sistema de comprensi\u00f3n puede ser aplicado tanto a im\u00e1genes en niveles de gris, como a im\u00e1genes en color. Para este \u00faltimo caso se presentan los mecanismos adicionales para que se sigan manteniendo las condiciones de reversibilidad.  se exponen diferentes mecanismos de escalado como extensiones del sistema de comprensi\u00f3n. Se ha desarrollado un sistema de escalado en calidad altamente configurable. Adem\u00e1s, tambi\u00e9n se presenta un sistema de codificaci\u00f3n escalada con descripci\u00f3n m\u00faltiple que permite adaptar las informaciones generadas a canales de comunicaci\u00f3n poco
