En la actualidad, los modelos con coeficientes aleatorios est\u00e1n experimentando un importante desarrollo y su uso se comienza a extender entre investigadores y analistas.  en esta tesis se analiza el modelo logit mixto en su especificaci\u00f3n de coeficientes aleatorios y su aplicaci\u00f3n a las elecciones realizadas en transporte. se investigan tambi\u00e9n aspectos referidos a la identificaci\u00f3n de los par\u00e1metros de este modelo.  a partir de las especificaciones cl\u00e1sicas lineales de la componente representativa de la funci\u00f3n de utilidad, se desarrolla una especificaci\u00f3n no lineal mediante el empleo de transformaciones de los atributos, constituyendo un nuevo modelo que se ha denominado logit mixto box-cox, que se implementa en un c\u00f3digo inform\u00e1tico. Se incorpora la posibilidad de introducir restricciones en el proceso de estimaci\u00f3n del modelo por m\u00e1xima verosimilitud simulada.  para investigar las capacidades del modelo se desarrollan estudios con bases de datos sint\u00e9ticas y reales. Se estudian las repercusiones de las especificaciones err\u00f3neas, tanto de los coeficientes aleatorios como de la linealidad de la funci\u00f3n de utilidad, en la interpretaci\u00f3n de los resultados y en las prognosis que realizan los diferentes modelos.
