Su funci\u00f3n fisiol\u00f3gica es desconocida, aunque in vitro se sabe que es capaz de desarrollar una actividad desacoplante. Comprobamos que la presencia de niveles elevados de ucp3 en c\u00e9lulas no musculares, confiere a las mitocondrias un comportamiento bioqu\u00edmico propio de la presencia de una prote\u00edna desacopladora funcional (desacoplamiento inducido por \u00e1cidos grasos e inhibible por gdp). En esta condiciones, ucp3 no induce la apoptosis pero sensibiliza las c\u00e9lulas al est\u00edmulo apopt\u00f3tico con implicaci\u00f3n mitocondrial (staurosporina). Las c\u00e9lulas musculares en cultivo adquieren resistencia a la activaci\u00f3n de la apoptosis al diferenciarse a miotubos, una disminuci\u00f3n transitoria del contenido en ros a lo largo de la diferenciaci\u00f3n, y una disminuci\u00f3n en la expresi\u00f3n de genes codificantes para ezimas antioxidante y en los niveles de glutati\u00f3n reducido. La activaci\u00f3n e v\u00edas apopt\u00f3ticas (caspasa-3, caspasa-9) por staurosporina se da en paralelo a un aumento de ros, pero este \u00faltimo fen\u00f3meno no es necesario para la activaci\u00f3n de los procesos apopt\u00f3ticos. La inducci\u00f3n de niveles altos de expresi\u00f3n de ucp3 en c\u00e9lulas musculares diferenciadas, v\u00eda transferencia g\u00e9nica con un vector adenov\u00edrico, disminuye de forma moderada el potencial de membrana pero no repercute en los niveles d ros ni en el estr\u00e9s oxidativo en general. la presencia de ucp3 no influye en la generaci\u00f3n e ros en respuesta a staurosporina y no protege sino que incluso sensibiliza moderadamente la activaci\u00f3n de caspasas en respuesta a staurosporina. Los \u00e1cidos grasos, especialmente el palmitato, aumentan los nivele de ros en c\u00e9lulas musculares diferenciadas (miotubos). La presencia de ucp3 produce una aumento moderado de ros y de sensores celulares de estr\u00e9s oxidativo en el contexto ce<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
