En la primera parte se exponen los diferentes conceptos de fracaso escolar y las medidas utilizadas para combatirlo en la uni\u00f3n europea, as\u00ed como los objetivos futuros que \u00e9sta se plante para erradicarlo; se expone la metodolog\u00eda utilizada en la investigaci\u00f3n y los criterios que han servido para la elecci\u00f3n de las unidades de la comparaci\u00f3n; y se presenta una descripci\u00f3n del contexto educativo de espa\u00f1a, francia, pa\u00edses bajos y suecia.  en la segunda parte, tras la formulaci\u00f3n de las hip\u00f3tesis, se definen las variables a utilizar en la comparaci\u00f3n y se describen para cada una de las unidades. A continuaci\u00f3n los datos m\u00e1s significativos se yuxtaponen en una serie de tablas para llegar a una serie de conclusiones a partir de las que se comprueban las hip\u00f3tesis y se formulan
