Es por ello que cada vez se le da m\u00e1s importancia a su forma de elaboraci\u00f3n, definiendo tanto su \u00e1mbito como las f\u00f3rmulas que permiten resumir las variaciones de los precios de consumo. En este proceso, la etapa dedicada a la elaboraci\u00f3n de los \u00edndices  elementales ha adquirido relevancia en la medida que no solo determina los sesgos que se pueden producir en los \u00edndices complejos a los que sirven de base sino porque son los que m\u00e1s concretamente expresan el comportamiento de los consumidores. En este trabajo se demuestra que las f\u00f3rmulas que generalmente se utilizan para la elaboraci\u00f3n de \u00e9stos \u00edndices no son coherentes con la teor\u00edas del consumidor, dado que se obtienen bajo supuestos inconsistentes con ella. En consecuencia, en el trabajo se presenta una nueva f\u00f3rmula para la obtenci\u00f3n de los \u00edndices elementales que, no solo tiene una forma sencilla de c\u00e1lculo, sino que expresa los cambios en el consumo que realizan los consumidores ante las variaciones de los precios de forma consistente con la teor\u00eda del consumidor. Esta f\u00f3rmula se define como la media arm\u00f3nica de los ratios de precios ponderados de forma inversa por el propio precio en el instante de referencia del \u00edndice, que cociente de las
