Su obra se ha desarrollado en los m\u00e1rgenes tanto de la industria como las pr\u00e1cticas y g\u00e9neros f\u00edlmicos de moda en cada momento, lo que le ha consolidado como una referencia en el cine espa\u00f1ol, tanto por su car\u00e1cter pionero como por su capacidad para explorar nuevos caminos en las posibilidades expresivas cinematogr\u00e1ficas. El autor salmantino se ha convertido en un exponente distinguido en el universo de la no-ficci\u00f3n f\u00edlmica espa\u00f1ola. Sus trabajos dentro de los borrosos espacios que se abren en torno a la frontera del documental han configurado una estimulante veta cinematogr\u00e1fica. Cinco de sus obras ejercen propuestas h\u00edbridas desde ese terreno: canciones para despu\u00e9s de una guerra, caudillo, Madrid, la seducci\u00f3n del caos y la serie andaluc\u00eda, un siglo de fascinaci\u00f3n. Desde diversos \u00e1ngulos, cada una de esas cinco producciones se interroga sobre las relaciones entre lo real y lo representado. Estos mestizajes cinematogr\u00e1ficos indagan en la validez de lo grabado, los problemas de la referencialidad documental, la facilidad para ejercer la impostura o los l\u00edmites del simulacro.
