Por otra parte, dado que en la actualidad la causa m\u00e1s  frecuente por la cual un sistema suspende involuntariamente su  operaci\u00f3n es alg\u00fan  fallo debido al  software y que la mayor\u00eda  de estos fallos tienen una naturaleza transitoria, se ha tratado de  mejorar la fiabilidad de los sistemas desde dos enfoques: la  ingenier\u00eda de software y la tolerancia a fallos.  dentro de este \u00faltimo enfoque, los protocolos de recuperaci\u00f3n basados  en rollback son de particular inter\u00e9s, pues permiten  implementar  una  abstracci\u00f3n de sistema  en la cual el fallo de un  proceso se traduce simplemente en una falta de disponibilidad  transitoria, no requieren de hardware especial para su  implementaci\u00f3n  y, por lo tanto, representan una soluci\u00f3n
