La pleiotrofina es tambi\u00e9n un proto-oncog\u00e9n como demuestran los hechos de tiene capacidad para transformar c\u00e9lulas normales, aumentar la malignidad de c\u00e9lulas en estadio premaligno e interferencia con la se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n de ptn revierte el fenotipo maligno de esos tumores. Ptn se\u00f1aliza por medio de la inhibici\u00f3n de la actividad fosfatasa de su receptor receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase (rptp) beta\/zeta   incrementando los niveles de fosforilaci\u00f3n en tirosina del substrato de rptp beta\/zeta, beta-catenina. Hemos dise\u00f1ado los experimentos aqu\u00ed descritos para analizar en profundidad la v\u00eda de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n ptn\/rptp beta\/zeta\/beta-catenina, as\u00ed como identificar nuevos substratos de rptp beta\/zeta que son por lo tanto dianas de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n de ptn. Hemos demostrado que tras estimulo con ptn, beta-catenina se discia de n-cadherina y n-cadherina es degradada iniciando una serie de cambios compatibles con una transformaci\u00f3n epiteli-mesenqumal. Hemos descubierto que las prote\u00ednas beta-adducida y fyn son sustratos de rptp beta\/zeta y que los niveles de fosforilaci\u00f3n en tirosina de beta-adducina y fyn aumentan en respuesta a ptn. Ptn simult\u00e1neamente activa prote\u00edna quinasa c la cual incrementa los niveles de fosforilaci\u00f3n en serina de beta-adducina determinada el destino subcelular de beta-adducina. Los resultados de estos experimentos por lo tanto identifican varias prote\u00ednas que son dianas de la v\u00eda de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n de ptn\/rptp beta\/zeta y potenciales candidatos para el dise\u00f1o de inhibidores que de forma especif\u00edca interfieran con ptn y puedan ser utilizados para el tratamiento de tumores con expresi\u00f3n constitutiva de
