Se seleccionaron las l\u00edneas m\u00e1s resistentes para estudiar los mecanismos de resistencia. su alto nivel de resistencia es debido a un alto porcentaje de colonias abortadas sin necrosis.  se ha postulado la presencia de genes de resistencia a roya de la hoja (rph) en 14 lineas seleccionadas de cebada del creciente f\u00e9rtil y espa\u00f1a en base a su reacci\u00f3n ante 5 aislados de puccinia hordei de virulencia diferencial. Tres genes de resistencia a roya (rph3, rph5 y rph7) parecen ser presentes en 12 de estas l\u00edneas. No obstante, no podemos descartar la presencia de otros genes a los cualestodos los aislados usados eran virulentos (rph1,2,4,6,8,9)o la presenciade otros nuevosgenes no conocidos.  en la campa\u00f1a 2003\/2004 en c\u00f3rdoba, se encontr\u00f3 una infecci\u00f3n inesperada de puccinia hordei en l\u00edneas que llevan el gen rph7. El nuevo aislado mostr\u00f3 virulencia sobre todos los genes de resistencia a roya de la hoja usados en el estudio incluso el gen rph7. Esta es la primera vez que se describe virulencia sobre rph7 en poblaciones europeas de p. Hordei. Se ha evaluado una colecci\u00f3n de 680 l\u00edneas de cebada para resistencia contra este nuevo aislado virulento al rph7. Se observ\u00f3 segregaci\u00f3n en 12 l\u00edneas, en las que algunas plantas mostraban resistencia hipersensible (tipo de infecci\u00f3n bajo, ti = 6). Estas plantas resistentes fueron seleccionadas y s\u00e9 est\u00e1n mu[tiplicandopara obtenersemillase introducirlesen programasde mejora.  se ha evaluado una colecci\u00f3n de 111 variedades locales de cebada del creciente f\u00e9rtil para resistencia al oidio en c\u00e1mara clim\u00e1tica. Se observaron dos tipos de resistencia. Doce l\u00edneas mostraron baja severidad con tipo de infecci\u00f3n alto (resistencia parcial).
