Estas estructuras pueden  ser dise\u00f1adas para controlar la dimensionalidad de confinamiento de los portadores  en el material: gases bidimensionales electronicos,  cables cu\u00e1nticos unidimensionales o puntos cu\u00e1nticos. Estos sistemas de  baja dimensionalidad requieren de un formalismo te\u00f3rico  adecuado distinto del utilizado a escala macroc\u00f3pica, ya que a este nivel  las propiedades de la materia est\u00e1n esencialmente  determinadas por reglas mec\u00e1nico-cu\u00e1nticas. En particular, para llevar  a cabo la caracterizaci\u00f3n de las propiedades electr\u00f3nicas de tal es sistemas un elemento importante a tener en cuenta es la presencia de desorden, ya que juega un papel fundamental en los procesos de  transporte.
